I believe that when an infant is born they are instantly able to form minimal attachment straight away thus having the ability to require attention via crying etc., letting them settle in and hopefully get the motive attention they seek, usually from the mother. But the attachment type (secure, resistant, avoidant and disorganised) will then be established and transformed during their upbringing and life style.

I believe that we are born predisposed to form an attachment with our caregiver but I also believe that under certain circumstances the attachment can be broken or worse forgotten how to become attached.

i think we are ready to form attachments straight away from birth to help us survive. we turn straight to the person that offers us most attention which is usually the parents. young babies cry showing they need attention and can form an attachment with who ever cares for them.

I beleave that a child is born with one basic instinct, to survive. The only way for a child to survive for the first stages of their life, through this instinct to survive they form attachments and learn to survive on their own. Tim Delaney
